The year 2022-2023 is expected to be another milestone in the history of the University of Hyderabad campus School. With good memories of the past, we step into the new academic year with renewed commitment, as we rededicate ourselves to open new vistas of knowledge and opportunities.
A student needs to equip himself/herself with diverse skills and experiences to sustain in this competitive world. For this, one has to first realize one’s potentials and explore them. It is the teacher who nurtures, encourages and facilities the students to achieve their full potential, and channelises their talents. Still, this is only half done without your active support, dear parents! We seek your cooperation in our constant endeavour of preparing students to seek opportunities and meet challenges in the future.
1.Programmes
Pre-Primary
School is an open platform for every kid to grow, nurture and prosper in the cycle of life. Childhood is the most crucial stage for every human, and this fact makes it very important to stroke the mind of a kid in the right direction in various aspects of life. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for your children. This is very essential to tap their latest potential and bring them to the fore. Children are like soft sponges and we enable them to develop an explorative and curious bent to absorb meaningful knowledge and become well adjusted, inquisitive, perceptive, bright and interactive children, ready for formal schooling. We kindle the spark of curiosity in the already bright child that is yours is so that he/she sparkles forever in future. Preschool is always connected to the idea that childhood is a time for kids to prosper in the recreational skills and develop a search behaviour to dwell into different streams. Our preschool platform provides an open arena for children to indulge in the recreational activities by doing things on their own. We portray a visual form of learning that is easy to grasp and retain at every level. All the programs under our umbrella are provided using best of technical equipment and a memorable learning experience. In addition to age-appropriate activities in Kindergarten, which prepare a child for success in formal school; various other activities are conducted in the areas of language, numbers, general knowledge, music, art in a planned manner throughout the year. Through these activities, children learn the alphabet sounds, numbers and simple math and master early writing skills. Furthermore, each child’s development is measured twice in a year through well designed assessment as part of the curriculum.
Primary
For Classes I & II
- There is no formal examination for classes I & II. The teacher will evaluate the students through continuous and Comprehensive evaluation (CCE). The testing can be done simultaneously while teaching or separately. Most of the time students may not be aware that they are being tested.
- There will be 8 cycles of CCE.
- CCE cycle means that all the students of the class are tested in all the competencies.
- The minimum passing grade remains ‘C’ failing which the exam cycle will be repeated.
For Classes III to VII
The CCE in classes III – VI shall spread over two terms during one academic session.
- First Term includes Periodic Test-I & Half Yearly (Pen Paper Test), The duration of the First Term is from 1st April to 30th September in an academic session.
- Second Term includes Periodic Test-II & Session ending exam (Pen Paper Test), The duration of the Second Term is from 1st October to 31st March in an academic session.
Periodic tests:
Periodic Tests will include Pen Paper Test in each term within the class & school time itself.
Periodic I and II will be conducted for 40 marks for the Duration of 90 min and will be converted into 10 marks
Note-book and Subject Enrichment:
The other mode of assessment in each term will be based on class-room interactive activities. The assessment will focus on the following areas:
- Assessment of Classwork and Home work for 25 marks which will be converted to 5 m,
- Assessment of Assignments / Activities in the form of Subject Enrichment for 25 marks which will be converted to 5 m.
- Half yearly and Session ending examinations:
Half yearly examination is likely to be held in the 2nd week of September (Tentative) & Session ending examination, in the 2nd week of March in each academic session.
The Half Yearly and Session Ending Examinations will be conducted for 80 marks for the Duration 2:30 hours.
The minimum passing grade remains ‘D’ failing which re-test will be conducted.

2.Student Care:
a. Counselling: We, at UHCS, believe that ‘Counselling’ is a way of helping students with personal problems. For it is a very important ingredient in shaping student’s behaviour and performance especially in schools.The fragile moments in a student’s emotional life are handled carefully by the strong pastoral care offered by our teachers. This paves way for the proper emotional, social and cognitive development of the child.
b. Career Guidance: Career guidance helps students to reflect on their ambitions, interests, qualification and abilities.
3. OUR CURRICULUM MODEL
Our curriculum model represents the school’s commitment to optimise teaching and learning, and facilitate children’s holistic development and well-being. Our teaching methodology enables the learner to explore multiple dimensions of excellence, encompassing intellectual, social, emotional and physical development. There is equal emphasis on academic rigour and engagement beyond the classroom through a wide spectrum of opportunities.
Teaching & Learning
Along with the CBSE curriculum, we use a variety of engaging teaching and learning methodologies that challenge and motivate learners to excel. With a focus on ingraining knowledge and Life skills essential for success in the 21st century, the methodology adopts:
- An Inquiry-based and application- oriented approach across all subjects to help them develop new activities and take responsibility for their learning.
- Role plays, interactive lab experiments and self and peer evaluation, to make learning more engaging and effective.
- Out-of-classroom activities and experiences such as theatre, music, Yoga, Gymnastics and many more.
4. Assessment and Promotion Rules (Will change according to our rules):
Attendance:
- Every student is required to put in an attendance of not less than 75% of the total number of working days in a year to be eligible to appear in the annual examination.
- Leave absence up to three days will be permitted by the class teacher.
- Repeated or un-explained absence for more than ten days renders a student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls with prior notice.
- Parents should fill the leave record in the dairy for each day the student is absent from school, stating the reasons for absence. A medical certificate has to be produced in case of long sickness.
Examinations and Promotions:
- The academic year consists of Two terms. Periodic test will be conducted in each term. Half yearly examination and Year end examination will be conducted at the end of Term -1 and Term-2 respectively.
- The final assessment of the pupil’s promotion will be decided on the basis of the cumulative record of the pupil according to the following weightages:
- A minimum of 75% of the total attendance of the academic session is required for all classes to take the annual examination.
- Any student found guilty of malpractice in the examination will be issued T.C without a good conduct endorsement.
- A student who fails twice in the same class will not be allowed to continue his/her studies in the school.
Promotion Rules:
- Classes L.K.G to VII: All the students of classes L.K.G to II will be promoted.
- If a pupil in classes III – V gets less than 33% in 3 subjects or more he/she may be detained with parent consent.
Declaration of the Result:
Progress reports will be distributed twice in a year after the term ending examinations.
